Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 1, 2026

BioData.org ("we," "us," or "our") operates the biodata creation and matchmaking platform at biodata.org. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our website and services.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Personal Information You Provide

When you create a biodata profile, we collect information you voluntarily provide, including:

  • Identity details: Full name, gender, date of birth, height, complexion
  • Contact details: WhatsApp number (with country code), email address, preferred contact method
  • Family information: Father's name and occupation, mother's name and occupation, number of siblings
  • Education and career: Degree, institution, occupation, company, annual income
  • Religious and community details: Religion, caste, sub-caste, gotra, community tags
  • Kundli/astrological data: Birth time, birth place, manglik status, nakshatra, rashi
  • Photos: Profile photographs you upload
  • Preferences: Partner age range, preferred religion, location, and other matchmaking criteria
  • Free-text fields: "About me" descriptions and any other text you enter

1.2 Account Information

When you create an account via our OAuth login system, we receive your name, email address, and a unique identifier from the authentication provider. We store a session cookie to keep you logged in.

1.3 Platform Usage

BioData.org is a completely free platform. We do not collect any payment or billing information. All features — including biodata creation, compatibility matching, Kundli reports, and profile browsing — are available at no cost.

1.4 Automatically Collected Information

When you visit our website, we may automatically collect certain technical information, including your IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, and referring URL. We use this data for analytics and to improve our service.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create, display, and manage your biodata profile
  • Generate PDF biodata documents for download and sharing
  • Enable matchmaking features including browse, compatibility analysis, and Kundli matching
  • Process subscription payments through Stripe
  • Send you service-related communications (account confirmations, subscription updates)
  • Improve our platform, fix bugs, and develop new features
  • Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or security threats

3. How We Share Your Information

3.1 Profile Visibility

When you publish your biodata profile, certain information (name, age, education, occupation, religion, and photo) becomes visible to other registered users who have an active subscription. Your contact details (WhatsApp number, email) are only shared when you explicitly send an invite or share link.

3.2 Sharing via WhatsApp and Email

When you use our sharing features, you control who receives your biodata link. We generate a unique share URL but do not independently contact anyone on your behalf. The share link provides access to a read-only view of your profile.

3.3 Third-Party Service Providers

We share data with the following service providers who assist in operating our platform:

  • Stripe: Payment processing (receives billing information)
  • Amazon Web Services (S3): Cloud storage for profile photos
  • Manus OAuth: Authentication provider (receives login credentials)

These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data and use it only for the purposes we specify.

3.4 Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or governmental regulation, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.

4. Photo Handling

Photos you upload are processed server-side: they are validated for file type (JPEG, PNG, WebP only), resized to a maximum of 1200×1200 pixels, compressed, and stripped of EXIF metadata (including GPS location data) before storage. Photos are stored securely on Amazon S3. When you delete your profile, all associated photos are permanently deleted from our storage.

5. Cookies and Local Storage

We use the following browser storage mechanisms:

  • Session cookie: A secure, HTTP-only cookie that keeps you logged in. This cookie is essential for the service to function and cannot be disabled.
  • Local storage: We store your biodata wizard draft in your browser's local storage so you don't lose progress if you close the page. This data stays on your device and is not sent to our servers until you choose to save.
  • Language preference: Your selected language is stored locally for convenience.

6. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including HTTPS encryption for all data in transit, secure HTTP-only cookies, Content Security Policy headers, rate limiting on all API endpoints, input validation and sanitization, and server-side photo processing that strips metadata. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with our services. When you delete your profile, we permanently delete all associated data including your profile information, photos, invites, compatibility scores, and matchmaking data. Stripe may retain payment records independently in accordance with their own retention policies and legal obligations.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete data via the edit profile feature
  • Delete your profile and all associated data at any time from your dashboard
  • Export your biodata as a PDF document
  • Withdraw consent by deleting your account or contacting us
  • Object to certain processing activities by contacting us

To exercise any of these rights, you can use the self-service features in your dashboard or contact us at [email protected].

9. Children's Privacy

BioData.org is intended for users who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected personal data from a child under 18, we will delete that information promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
